IRONMAN Wales preparation weekends are hosted by

 

The expert coaches of thetrilife.com will be running the IRONMAN Wales Preparation Weekend, with 2 days designed to provide all attendees with the chance to familiarise themselves with all aspects of event location, courses and race day preparation. You will get to ride a lap of the bike course, practice and review your IRONMAN pacing with a coached run off the bike, an open water swim session (weather permitting) and walk through the transitions. There will also be a seminar from thetrilife.com, as well as IRONMAN staff present for any questions you may have.

In addition, you will hear from world class coaches like Richard Jones and Dan Salcedo on how to get the most benefit from your training. You will learn how to race smart on the day and develop your nutrition and mental strategies. For experienced athletes, these days are opportunities to learn from experts how to race to the best of your ability on the day – for first time IRONMAN athlete these days will help you have the very best experience and finish your race wanting to do it again next year! IRONMAN Wales staff will also be on hand to answer any race related questions.

Saturday

10.00 - Introduction to thetrilife.com and objectives of the weekend
10.15 – thetrilife.com presentation on training, tapering, nutrition and racing strategies
12.15 – orientation to transition area and transition questions
12.45 – open water swim session
14.30 – Part 1 of the bike leg: Angle 40 mile loop – please note that this is the “less challenging” part of the course

Sunday
8.30 – Part 2 of the bike leg: Saundersfoot 40 mile loop – please note that this is the challenging part of the course
12.30 onwards – Run off the bike on the run course – 5-6 miles only.
Following your run – your group coach will address your remaining questions.
