Location
Located in beautiful Pembrokeshire Wales, Ironman Wales takes place on Sunday, September 16th 2012. Pembrokeshire is known for the breathtaking landscape of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, featuring miles of sandy beaches and a spectacular coastline. Ironman Wales is one not to be missed! What is the expected temperature?
Pembrokeshire has a fantastic climate which benefits from the warm Gulf Stream. Tenby is one of the sunniest places in Britain with over 1,800 hours of sunshine a year. Temperatures across Wales usually make it to 20°C (70°F) in September when the sandy, white beaches really come into their own. The water temperature in September is normally between 16-17 degrees.

What are the cut off times?
Swim, 2 hours 20 minutes
Bike, 10 hours 30 minutes (after start of race)

Will there be a relay entry?
No. Ironman Wales will not have a relay race.
What age group am I in?
You will compete as the age you will be on 31st December 2012
Is there a minimum age?
Yes, athletes must be 18 on race day
Can I use a hybrid/mountain bike?
No, your bike must be a road bike or a time trial bike, if you have further questions about this please email us with your bike make and a photo and we will be able to help you

Is there a waiting list for the event once entries sell out?
No, we do not have a waiting list
Registration procedure
All athletes must register at the event with photo ID to collect their race packs. Nothing gets sent in the post. Please check the race week schedule for registration opening times. There can be no late registration.
Can someone else register and rack my belongings for me?
No, the athlete racing must register and rack their own bike/bags. Photo ID will be requested in registration.

- The feed stations will supply Gatorade, Water, Bananas, & Energy bars (drink in bottles)
- Ipods, MP3 players, mobile phones etc are not permitted on the course
- Your race number must be worn on your back
- A special need station will be at the entrance to Kiln Park, about 72 miles into the bike course, athlete must pick up their own bag from this area
Run quick facts
- The feed stations will supply Gatorade, Pepsi, Water, & Energy gels (drink supplied in cups)
- Ipods, MP3 players, mobile phones etc are not permitted on the course
- Your race number must be worn on your front
- There will be a special need area in Tudor Square, in this location only a spectator may pass you your special need items
Transition quick facts
- Ironman Wales operates a clean transition. No equipment can be placed on the floor, in a box or otherwise around your bike. You will be given coloured bags when you register for your bike and run gear.Blue Bag: Bike Gear, put all the kit you need for your cycle in this bag, including your helmet. (Don’t forget your race number) You will enter the blue bag area upon exiting the swim, here you will change and then head to collect your bike. Red Bag: Run Gear, put all the kit you need for your run in this bag. Once you have left your bike you will enter the red bag area, here you will change and head to the run course. White Bag: this bag is for your dry clothing that you require after the race. The white bags will be in the athletes finish area and available to collect as soon as you finish the race.

Can my friends/family/spectator run down the finish line with me?
No, due to safety, spectators will not be allowed to run down the finish line. This area must be kept clear. Any athlete who crosses the finish line with a spectator will be disqualified
How many qualifying slots are there?
50, for the Ironman World Championships 2013.
How do I claim my slot?
Slots are allocated to each age group with an athlete in, final slot allocation will be determined on race day based on the number of official starters. Roll down will begin; athletes must be at roll down to accept their slot, if an athlete chooses not to take the slot by not being present at roll down, the slot will get rolled down to the next finisher in that age group present at the roll down. If there are no finishers in an age group this slot will then get allocated to the biggest age group in that gender.
